Meeting for Creative Perspective – #1

The Meeting for Creative Perspective occurs every Friday afternoon for designers, writers, and UX designers to have an open discussion about a variety of industry-related topics, as well as quite a few tangents. The meeting’s unstructured nature allows for an open conversation where all can express their interests and be inspired. Because, well, if we’re not working on it, we’re thinking about it.

In the first MCP we discussed future trends in mobile phones, viewed the portfolio of the late fashion photographer Irvine Penn, analyzed songs for their hit potential, and carefully perused regretsy.com .

Future Trends in Mobile Phones
We looked at several mobile phone concepts and discussed pros & cons to the ideas expressed in each. One of the most interesting ideas we talked about is the Universal phone, which conceptually translates text to Braille. Imagine the ways in which information could be made more accessible to blind people when coupled with geo-location and proximity features.

Handmade Wonders
Etsy.com is an online marketplace for handmade crafts. Most of the items sold on Etsy fall into the status quo. But when they don’t, they fall nowhere near it. Those exceptional items are the inspiration for the spin-off site Regresty.com .
