Big in…Minneapolis?

Take a look at this interesting interactive map from the New York Times this week passed along by a friend.

It’s a distribution map showing Netflix rental titles in relation to geographic location.  Particularly interesting are some of the strong correlations between movies and particular cities or demographics (ie: big rentals in Minneapolis are New in Town, Role Models, and Mad Men – based around a MN factory, starring MN native Sean William Scott, and revolving around advertising respectively.  We should also note Mad Men is also big in San Francisco & New York…).

Surprising?  Not so much, but neat to see mapped out visually.  Users can also break down segments further into independent zip codes.
