20 Years of Popular Front: 2002

2002 was the year Popular Front launched SnowDays—sort of like Twitter with snowflakes, but 5 years before the avian social media hub started sucking up all of our free time. SnowDays was first conceived as a holiday greeting for Popular Front’s friends and clients and quickly grew to an internet phenomenon of sorts, with its own fan site and nearly 9 million snowflakes made to date.

Love the site, also like the fact that we can go to MisterX to learn how to make beautiful flakes.
flaking became easy with a flaking school to go to.

I really enjoy making snowflakes, and the way that people from all over connect with eachother in “Flakeville.” I don’t get to flake as much as I’d like, but I really love it when I do get to sit down and clip away to my heart’s content and exchange thoughts with other flakers :)

So, when are you going to start offering custom screensavers from this?! I’d pay to have the flakes I have made over the years saved for posterity into a screensaver type program. You can already pull up a person’s flakes via search, surely there is a way to use that feature to make custom snow storms for sale? (I say this because I notice that the flakes I made prior to this past year have “melted”. *sad*)

SnowDays has certainly been an addiction for me. This January marks my 5th “flake-a-versary” (5 years of flake making).

It has been a wonderful place to create and discover, and I’ve met people there that I will know for many years to come.

    ThanX for an AWESOME site!

Love the site, when doing a search for someone, however, i wish all the flakes would be open, so you didn’t have to catch them to open them. It’s fun stuff!
